I made this edit months ago because of my own experiences with depression and loneliness, but in light of Robin Williams’ passing, I thought it was a good time to release it. If you’ve never been through either of these, that’s kind of what it’s like. In simplest terms, depression is an inescapable feeling that feeds on itself, while loneliness feels like an emotional tidal wave. Though intrinsically linked, the two are not the same.

Depression says, “The people I love/who love me would be better off without me.”
Loneliness says, “I wish one of those people was here right now.”
